Agents with a narrower brief
Why focused workflows deserve attention alongside general-purpose assistants.
Start with the experience
A specialised assistant might prepare an estimate, organise a research folder or check a document against a known checklist. A narrow brief makes it easier to describe success and recognise failure. The useful question is whether the assistant can complete a bounded task under the conditions of everyday work.
Why it matters to an AIpreneur
Specificity makes evaluation possible. Creating economic value means connecting a capability to a useful outcome for someone. That connection depends on the setting: the people involved, the resources available and the consequences when a result is wrong. A convincing demonstration cannot answer all of those questions.
A practical starting point is to follow one piece of work from beginning to end. Ask where people spend time, what they need to trust and which decisions carry consequences. Keep the existing process available while testing a change, so the comparison reflects the work rather than an idealised version of it.
Questions for the conversation
What surprised you in the first attempt? Which assumption did a customer challenge? Where did the tool help, and where did you decide to step back? What would you want another builder to understand before trying something similar?
Specificity makes evaluation possible.
The question behind every AIpreneur piece: why does this matter to someone building, creating or contributing to the AI economy?
